The XBMob project aims to stimulate cycling in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine by focussing on so-called ‘missing links’, i.e. gaps in the cycling infrastructure. The partners want to contribute to making the EMR one of the prime destination for cycling. They plan to do this through analysis, awareness raising, active stakeholder involvement, improvement of the existing cycle infrastructure and a web-portal. The partnership is comprised of 13 partners from the EMR, combining municipalities, business and sector organisations. It is led by the Gemeente Eijsden-Margraten (NL). Among the aims of the project are promoting bike tourism, business support and encouraging citizen to behavioural change to use the bike more often. According to the project, the activities should lead to an increase of 100,000 visits in the region.
