youRegion website now online

The website of our project youRegion is online. YouRegion strives for a cross-border labour market in the Euregio, where borders are not perceived as obstacles, but instead as a stepping stone to a broadened labour market. The project will harmonise and expand Euregio-wide advisory and placement services for newcomers and will invest in a Euregional welcome culture.

Demographic developments and borders in the Euregio raise obstacles to finding and hiring qualified staff. The region’s active labour force is ageing, birth rates are dropping, and highly educated professionals tend to leave. YouRegion wants to put a stop to this brain drain by investing in a region that is attractive for highly skilled and high-potential employees.

By coordinating advisory and placement services for newcomers, youRegion encourages a cross-border labour market in the Euregio. The project will map and coordinate the existing offer of services for newcomers and will develop a Euregional marketing strategy. Ultimately, one-stop-shops for employers, (potential) border commuters, citizens and self-employed professionals should offer advice and guidance on working at the other side of the border.

YouRegion will establish a service center for cross-border employment services in Kelmis (East Belgium) and the Belgian Province of Limburg, modelled according to their equivalents in Maastricht and Aachen.

Willkommenskultur

Call it Willkommenskultur, onthaalcultuur or culture d’accueil. youRegion invests in a region that offers an attractive place to work, live and do business. Such a climate should help retain newcomers, expats, employees and companies for the long term.

To support this target group, youRegion organises workshops to prepare expats and (potential) cross-border commuters on their life and work in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. An example is guidance to partners and spouses: moving abroad involves the question of how to align the relocation with the partner’s career and family life. YouRegion plans to set up a central dual career network to enable partners to pursue their careers in the Euregio.
