EMR Connect

EMR Connect is an Interreg V-A project which supports cross-border cooperation regarding mobility. The project started in October 2017 and is active for three years, with a budget of 4,6 million euros. Together with 14 partners from the Euregion Meuse-Rhine (Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands), the Aachener Verkehrsverbund (AVV) is responsible for improving cross-border public transportation.

The aim of the project is to take concrete measurements in cross-border mobility in the Euregion. Transport organisations, public transport authorities, governments and universities are working together to form a strong network which formed EMR Connect. This will strengthen cross-border public transportation and lead to a better network in the sub-regions of the Euregion Meuse-Rhine.

To facilitate a sustainable network, EMR Connect tackles current challenges in cross-border local public transportation. This varies from improvements in prices and services and digitalisation of ticket and passenger information to the use of E-buses and connecting different transportation means. Our network involves three universities, who contribute to education and knowledge in the region. Working together in these areas meakes the Euregion Meuse-Rhine attractive as a region.
